How to generate product titles with AI

How to use AI to create engaging product titles that win the click

Amazon product titles are very important because they include keywords that help potential customers find your product and the Amazon A9 algorithm understands how to rank your product page. An optimized Amazon product title helps customers find products easily, includes concise, relevant information, and boosts traffic to the product listing.

To optimize your product title, use AI.

How it works

  1. Install the Advigator Chrome Extension
  2. Go to Amazon.com (or any other countries)
  3. Search for your main keyword in the Amazon search bar (e.g coffee maker, yoga mat, headphones)
  4. Click on the “Product Page Generator” tab

Amazon product title optimization

After analyzing the search results, the Advigator Chrome extension provides a title structure and the most used keywords for the category.

Let’s see an example. If we search for “headphones” on the Amazon marketplace, the Advigator Chrome extension provides the following product title guidelines:

  • Structure:
    • [BRAND MODEL] + [KEY FEATURES] + [ADDITIONAL FEATURES] + [USE CASES]
  • Keywords:
    • Wireless, Earbuds, Bluetooth, Headphones, Noise Cancelling, Playtime, Waterproof, Stereo, Earphones, Microphone, Over Ear, HiFi, Deep Bass, Comfortable, Foldable, LED Display, Sport, Workout, Running, Phone, Laptop, Black
  • Example:
    • Brand New Wireless Bluetooth Headphones, Noise Cancelling, Deep Bass, 60H Playtime, Waterproof, Comfortable Fit, LED Display, for Workout/Running/Phone/Laptop, Black

Sellers can use the Advigator Chrome extension for inspiration and research, and then modify the example based on their products. Sellers can also use A/B testing to experiment with different title combinations to see which leads to the best results (more sales!).

Now that the Chrome extension has provided product title ideas, let’s make sure we’re informed about product title guidelines to meet all of Amazon’s requirements.

Amazon product title requirements:

  • Limit of 200 characters (maximize it!)
  • Include primary and secondary keywords (5-10 total)
  • Include the product type
  • Include the brand name
    • Put the brand name first only if the brand is well-known
  • Include descriptive information like color or size

It’s important the title is relevant for ranking but also needs to be readable, remember your real customers are people, not algorithms. Make sure your titles are attention-grabbing, concise, and attractive to potential customers. The majority of potential customers are shopping online, so make sure the most important information will not be cut off for online shoppers. Let’s look at some best practices to boost readability.

Amazon product titles best practices:

  • Don’t keyword stuff (don’t repeat keywords)
  • For child ASIN variations, specify the size and color
    • Example parent: Crocs Beach Clog
    • Example Child: Crocs Beach Clog, Red, Men’s Size 10-11
  • Include your #1 selling point
  • Spell out units of measurement (inches not in.)
  • No subjective commentary (the best headphones)
  • No promotional phrases (on sale now)
  • No decorative characters (*)
  • Use numerals instead of writing out numbers (ex. 5 instead of five)
  • Use title casing (Capitalize the First Letter of Each Word)

Remember product titles are important for 2 reasons:

#1: Product titles grab customer’s attention (and win the click!)

#2: Product titles tell Amazon how to rank your product in the search results

Let’s look at some examples of sellers who got this right and sellers who got it wrong.

Example of a good product title: It includes the brand name (Roku), the primary keyword (streaming stick), compatible products (HD/4K/HDR), key features (long-range wireless) (voice remote), and additional features (TV controls).

Example of bad product title: This is not very readable, there’s no separation between words making it difficult to understand. Inches are not spelled out. There is keyword stuffing: alarm clock is repeated three times, bedroom is repeated twice. This feels written for the algorithm and not for human customers.

Don’t set it and forget it! Plan to review (and if necessary) update your title every 90 days with trending keywords. Filter out keywords you are already ranking for and update the title with new keywords.
