If you’re selling a product that comes in different colors, sizes, or other style variations, you can group them all together on a single product detail page instead of creating a different page for each item. This feature is called Product Variation Relationship and it helps you to increase conversion.
With this feature, you have a Parent Listing that is the hosting listing, and Child Listings that are the single product variations.
Your Child Listings are those listings that have already been created with their pictures, keywords, and description. In fact, they can be grouped in the Parent Listing only if they already exist.
So, if you’re selling a product that has different variations, you have two options:
There is no exact answer to this question, you need to consider many things about your product. It depends on your product category, your keywords, or the type of variations you have. So, you need to make sure that you take all these factors into consideration when you want to make this decision.
When your product variations are grouped in a single variation listing, only one of the products comes up on the search results page. In fact, Amazon won’t show all the variations but only the best option.
While, if you separate your Variation listing into single ones, you need to consider that they will have the same keywords and it will be difficult for all of them to gain a good position on the search results page. You risk that only the best-selling one will receive traffic and the other variations will lose the potential sales. So, you risk splitting up the Variation Listing for no reason.
In some other cases, this can be different. The products may not have that much competition and the different products may all appear immediately on the search results page. Also, if your products have significant differences in styles and variation it may be better to list them as separate ASINs. They could be considered unrelated and may not receive sales when added to a variation listing with similar products.
From Catalogue or Inventory select “Add Products”/"Add a Product". Both of these will take you to the same page.
From this page, select “I’m adding a product not sold on Amazon” to create your listing.
Your next step is to choose the category your product best fits into. If not present you can search it yourself in the “Search” tab available.
Once you have selected your category, you will land on this page. Click on “Advanced view” to see all the features available.
At this point, in "Vital Info", you can add the Product ID, the Item Name, the Brand Name, and the Manufacturer. Your Manufacturer and Brand Name can be the same. The rest of the options below are optional.
Then you can enter the price, the condition, and the quantity you have in stock. If you don’t offer the shipping service and let Amazon organize all of this, go to “Fulfillment Channel” at the end of the page and select “Amazon will dispatch and provide customer service (Fulfilled by Amazon)”.
Now, you can add your images, bullet points, and description. You can also add those extra keywords not visible on your product listing but still relevant to your product.
Finally, you can add all the extra details about the product and you can "Save and Finish".
